Marching Band 4th of July Parade Rehearsal
July 4, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Tuesday – July 4…see attached map of COD
Meeting at College of DuPage at 11am (eat a big breakfast and early lunch…must have calories for the sitting around waiting for the parade to begin as well as the one mile parade once we step off)
There is only 1 way into the staging area. Everything else will be closed off for through traffic. See attached map.The staging area is located at the Homeland Security Building at College of DuPage. 425 Fawell Blvd. Glen Ellyn, 60137. It is best to put the corner of Park Blvd and College Rd into your GPS.
For those who want to drop off your student and then park…
From the corner of Park Blvd and College Rd you will head west on College Rd.; go through a stop sign; and pass the light at College Rd and Lambert Rd. Continue down College Rd. and you will see Lot Captains in yellow vests to guide you to your staging area. Please tell the Lot Captain you are with The Hilltopper Marching Band in Row D, Placement 1
After dropping off, you will be asked to make a U-Turn and go back the way you came into the staging area towards Park Blvd. Then you can park.
For those who feel their student can walk from the parking lot to the staging area (star on the attached map)…
Park first, families can go find a good spot to watch and your student can walk to the staging area.
General Parking is available all along Fawell Blvd and along College Rd. All the lots can be accessed only using College Rd. To park along Fawell, turn north (towards COD) at the stop sign on College Rd. between Lambert and Park. See the map for reference. Where you park depends on if you want to be close to the staging area near the beginning of the parade or closer to where the parade ends. It’s up to you.
The parade route is on Fawell Blvd. from College Rd. to Park Blvd. It totals 1 mile. Porta-potties, handicapped accessible porta-potties, and hand-washing stations (not for drinking) are available in the staging area and also mid-way through the parade route.
We will meet at 11am at the staging area with their instruments and music from the July 3 rehearsal…no access to Glenbard West before the parade. We are The Hilltopper Marching Band in Row D, Placement 1
Parade T-Shirt from the July 3 rehearsal
Socks and gym shoes for comfort
Optional items…hat and sunglasses
Parade begins at Noon…we are row D, so we believe that Rows A, B, and C will go before us…so we’re not at the very “beginning”
We will have water to share as we wait and a group of volunteers to keep us watered as we march through the parade.
Once the parade is done…everyone will find their own way home and there is no bus transportation provided. For sousaphone and drumline performers, Glenbard West will be open after the parade so you can drop off your equipment in the band room as you return home after the parade.
